The Flying Cloud Folk Club, established in 1983 is Toronto's longest running completely volunteer-run, not-for-profit folk club in this city. We present more than 30 concerts per year on Sundays from September to June, specializing in traditional forms of folk music from many of the cultures represented across Canada, with a strong focus on Canadian, Celtic, Quebecois, American and British Isles artists. Artists are encouraged to bring merchandise, making the Flying Cloud not only a prime source of great live music but also a terrific source of music to go.

We operate out of the Tranzac Club (a small intimate club in downtown Toronto) at 292 Brunswick Avenue, doors open at 7:00, concerts start at 7:30 unless otherwise noted. General admission is usually $20, club members pay less. It is recommended that tickets be purchased in advance as seating is limited. The Irish Cultural Society of Brockville and District
Irish Solo Dance Classes will be taught this year by Siobhan O’Brien, who has extensive experience in dance and in teaching dance. To those who are interested in the Irish language:

As you may be aware, Celtic Studies will be receiving funding from the Irish government to assist in the teaching of Irish language. This welcome initiative was announced by Eamon O Cuiv, Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, when he gave a lecture at St. Michael's College in May as part of the famine commemoration events.
This funding means that we will have a young scholar on campus during the 2009-2010 academic year who will assist with teaching Irish to the Celtic Studies students.
We also propose to ask her to offer an evening class to anyone who is interested in learning Irish - probably one night a week from October to April. If you are interested, please send us an email at celtic.studies@utoronto.ca It would be helpful if you would let us know what level of Irish would be the most useful to you - are you a total beginner, or do you remember some from your schooldays in Ireland, or maybe you're quite fluent- Based on the response, we will let you know in September what we are able to arrange.
